Last Minute Date Ideas
Play hide-and-seek in a mall as couples. Each time that you
see another couple, write down who they are, and what time
you saw them. After the ending time, go out for banana splits.
Give each couple a tape recorder and a list of sounds to
record for a sound scavenger hunt.
Take your little sisters and/or brothers to a drive-in. Treat
them to drinks and popcorn.
Go to the beach and get into a water fight while walking on
the water's edge.
Spend an afternoon cleaning out your garage.

Get a group together and make your own home-made
pizzas. Everyone bring a topping and a favorite movie.
Vote what you’re going to watch.
Put together a puzzle on a rainy evening.
Go people watching at the airport. Watch for farewells and
homecomings of loved ones. Notice the difference in the
business people and tourists. The business people will
walk briskly, have their briefcases in hand, and will often
look at their watches as they de-board. Tourists, on the
other hand, will walk more leisurely, look at the pictures
on the walls, and even take pictures. For even more fun,
try to single out somebody that looks like a famous
person. When you spot a resemblance, tell your date the
name of the celebrity and see if they can point out the
same person. Don't forget to stop at one of the
restaurants to relax and have some dinner or dessert.
Go on a clover hunt, and see if you and your date can find
a four-leaf clover.
Take a stroll around the block -- and hold hands as you
walk.
Drive around different neighborhoods in your area to find
the most beautiful and oddest landscaping and
decorations.
Find a wild berry patch and enjoy picking and eating
berries.
Go out to dinner and a movie (especially a chick movie that
she wants to see). Editors note: This is not a good first
date (you don't get to talk and get to know each other).
Spend an evening looking through your date's picture
books and high school yearbooks. Find a comfortable
place in the home free from distractions to sit down
together. While looking at the picture books, try to guess
what's happening, where the picture was taken, what
time of year it was, etc., before looking at the description
sentences. The pictures in these books will be lots of fun
for the person showing them. This is also a guaranteed
night of laughing together. You will learn a lot about that
person as they tell you the stories and experiences
behind each picture.
Go shopping together. Let's say you are looking for a
gift for someone like your mother or father. Take your
date along with you to the mall and look for the gift
together.
Bored? Try One of These!
Get together with several other people and go to a
nearby amusement park.
Put on your oldest clothes and head to a nearby mud
hole. These mud holes can be found after rainstorms at
baseball diamonds, parks, fields, and land that has been
previously used for a garden. A long hose will also do the
trick. First have a tug-of-war across the mud. Afterwards,
have races where each person drags their partner
through the mud.
Play video games or pinball. Challenge guys against girls.
Race Go-Karts. / Play laser tag.
Play broom hockey on the ice. Find a frozen pond
(MAKE SURE THE ICE IS THICK ENOUGH!). Have
everyone bring a broom. Use a tennis ball for "puck". Set
up goals on either end. Dress warmly, and take breaks
to have hot chocolate.
Go golfing in the snow. Set up the holes in a large area,
and play with brightly colored balls.
Have a sidewalk decoration contest with colored chalk.
(Ask your RD first)
Invite several people over to your dorm for dinner. When
they arrive, the girls can start throwing water balloons,
and spraying the water hose. If the guys are really smart
they'll pay you back. Afterwards, chill and talk over hot
pizza.
Have a competition making the most elaborate cardboard
box car. Then "drive" the "cars" into the living- room, and
watch a movie. It's a DRIVE-IN!!!
Play "human" checkers. If there is not a board in your
town, make a board with chalk.
(Ask your RD before using chalk)
Buy two disposable cameras. Then go around the town
to weird signs, kiddy rides, or to the park and take
pictures (together and separate). As a second activity,
get together after the pictures are developed (don't forget
refreshments).
List all the city parks in your area which have
playgrounds. Allow space next to each park to fill in a
time and date. Over several days, visit each park and
swing together, then record the date and time until you
have visited each playground. It is a great way to get to
know each other and you'll learn a lot about your city.
Get a can of foamy shaving cream for each person. Find
somewhere that you can make a mess, pass out cans,
then ATTACK! Have a fun shaving cream fight. Make
sure everyone has clothes on that they don't mind getting
dirty.
