Description: I really wanted to
impress my residents with my door tags since they're the
first thing they see (can you tell I'm a first-year
RA?). Over the summer I came up with the idea of
making cute little pillows with the resident's name
written on with a silver paint pen (and a nice font!).
I went over so well that people from other floors were
asking me for one! I think I stumbled upon a
business idea...
Instructions, Things Needed:
-
fabric: amount will depend on how
many pillows are needed. make sure to pick a
design that is unisex. (it cost me about $4 for
enough fabric to make 45 pillows)
-
a string of silver beads (they're
just plastic) this cost me about $1 at the craft
store.
-
stuffing: this cost me nothing
because we had some old pillows that we recycled.
-
Paint Pen: about $3 at the craft
store
my pillows are about 6.5 in x 4.5 in.
the fabric was cut out with pinking shears (they make a
cool pattern on the edge -- check the craft store).
sew the sides and bottom together (a sewing machine
makes this very easy). leave the center of the top
open and stuff through here. the silver beads are
sewn into the top of the pillow to create something to
hang it from -- and it looks nice! Very easy and
very fun!
