Program: Wizard of Oz Wing Theme

8: Social

Description: Okay...this was a real hit with everybody in the hall.  I made door tags out of blue and white checked scrapbooking paper and used glue and glitter to write the resident's names on them.  If you have time...you can also make little ruby slippers with the glue and glitter.  I also got yellow butcher paper and cut out "squiggly" little 5 foot long strips.  I took a thick magic marker and drew in lines to make it look like it was brick...then just hang them on the very bottoms of the walls or tape them to the floor close to the wall.  I also made an apple tree (those scary talking/apple throwing trees) out of brown and green butcher paper.  I made arms for the tree out of the butcher paper and drew a face on the tree trunk.  I then took die-cut apples (from the teacher supply store) and wrote everyone's name, room number, and birthday on the apples!  I also made a rainbow from white butcher paper colored with markers...and clouds at the bottoms of the two edges and wrote "Toto...I don't think we're in Kansas anymore".  Finally I printed up pictures off the internet, colored them, and hung them throughout the wing.  The best thing about this wing theme is that it adds A LOT of color to those often-times drab halls!
