You Plan the Program

Considerations: This program works best and is most helpful when the school/organization is located near a big city (For example, my school is near Chicago, IL) where the public transportation system and all area opportunities might be a little overwhelming!

Description: This program is designed to help the residents use the community resources in their area. While the RA is implementing and coordinating the program, the residents are in charge of planning their activities so as to aquaint them with services and opportunities in a fun way! Its also a great way to get lots of people excited about this program because they're involved in the ideas, planning and organizing.

There is little prep work for the program initially:

  1. Plan for two weekends in a row that will be available and not conflict with other major campus activities.
  2. Call a floor meeting but be vague in details (after all, even you don't know what the program will be yet!)
  3. Have information packets (attached) ready at the meeting, one for each suite/group that will be participating.
  4. After explaining the details at the meeting, they are free to go plan their trips, but they must have their information turned in by the deadline!
