My dormitory had only 5 wings and we had a major theme throughout the
dorm in regards to Self Worth and where we fit into the mold.
Now being an all woman's dorm, this was great. I designated each
wing with a sub-theme <strength, love, wisdom, stewardship, and
humility> At the beginning of the semester, we explained the
meaning of the dorm theme and had a packet for each wing, in which it
contained a puzzle revealing the theme for their wing. It was a
great team builder and it was great for a party that we held.
Each wing had to decorate with it's theme and everyone who came to the
party judged and the winning wing got a free dinner at the local
college hangout. Also our dorm was known for many years for it's
Davis Smoothies. So we made smoothies that night for the
visitors. It was a great success!
Instructions/Things Needed:
PUZZLE
<depending on how many themes you have>
- Foam Board
- Separate sheets with 1 theme written on each <can use the
computer or a create way>
- Exacto knife
- Manila Envelopes 8x11
- glue stick
DORM CONTEST SLIPS
- paper with each theme written on it. <Vote for the best
decorated wing>
PRIZE
Many establishments or businesses are willing to give away things to
local charities or universities. So just ask and they'll
donate...but don't forget to mention that it's for your school...
REFRESHMENTS
Smoothies:
- blenders <the more the better>
- strawberries or any kinds of fruits
- ice...LOTS of ice
- fruit punch
- cups
- whipped cream
