Description:
This
program is designed for Freshman on Campus to
get involved in their new community! Bring in
represenitives from all over campus and the
community and talk about the volunteering oppertunities,
and the job oppertunities that were available
on campus. Its best if you do this the first
few weeks of school before their work loads
start to build!
Instructions:
-
Contact a number of volunteering agencies,
and job agencies preferably on campus to come
in and present their places to a group of
freshmen. Make sure to mention that its a
great way to get their names out there amoung
all the new students at the University!
-
Set up a room/ hall to have your program located
in! Make sure you have an area for people
to sit and listen, and then tables set up
so they can walk around afterwards.
-
Food is always good to get them there- Sandwiches
are good!
-
Advertising is tricky for this because you
wanna get the maximum amount of people there-
so you gotta play it smart! I used BIG posters
(movie size) and little ones on the floors
and in the bathrooms. The day before the program,
send out a campus wide phone message with
music and a short/sweet message about the
program, and the day of, packets of Goldfish
in the mailboxes with a note about the program.
- Make
sure all your presenters are comming a few
days before the program. And make sure they
know the right times and places to be.
-
The night of, make sign-up sheets and name
tags for the tables for each of the presenters!
- When
all is put together, you have a great program
ready for you're new eager minds! Take the
first part of the program, give an overview
of the program and introduce each of your
presenters to the students and have them give
a 2-3 minute blurb about their organization.
Then after everyone is done talking, tell
the students that they can sign up to be involved
in these organizations by going to the table
and talking more with your presenter! This
way, people get the information they need
about the things they are interested in.
- Dont
forget to send out Thank You Cards!!
